History
Once upon a time, there was a herd of horses that lived on a decently large, tropical island. The herd was large (though it did not start as such), roughly two hundred strong at any given time. Each was striped, and they lived in peace for many years and generations. However, because there were no horses that were able to join them in their apparent paradise, interbreeding was the only option, and their brains began to do strange things to them, and they developed stripes and their hooves.
But they thought they were happy.
They, however, had not noticed that they were destroying the island's resources at a quicker rate than the island could replenish them, as they had been "trying" to keep population to what seemed a decent size. All the bad luck seemed to happen at once - a foal killed their mother as it was born because its face had several foot-long stabbies on it, causing her to bleed out; also, the island gave a final sigh, crashed into a larger land mass, and suddenly everything was desert and all of the herd but 50 died in the quakes. The stabby-foal, Anoat, was deemed to be the culprit, and the twelve horses of the same generation as its mother decided to kill it. Their parents, however, were reluctant, and hid Anoat away with the great-grandparents. When he accidentally killed them, too, a rift was formed. Now everyone hates everyone else.

Appearance
- have multiple stabbies, generally in the mane but can be on face/back/body/tail. usually are not born with said stabbies, but rather grow them around the age of two or so. can be made of nearly any material - metal, bone, rock, whatever. depends on the parent
- have stripes somewhere
- first generation is hotblood horses - made for heat and speed, desert horses, and not very tall
- face at least mostly just one color
- hooves are rarely cloven, but it's not uncommon to almost "look" like they have been.
Personality
- generally hate sand, and yet are drawn to the desert for heat. this is from long generations living in the desert, and yet remembering the tropical paradise they once had
- each generation absolutely hates the generation previous and just after (it's "every other" - we'll refer to these boundaries as Class A and Class B. A would be parents, grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, etc, B would be children, great-grandparents, great-great-great grandchildren, etc.), but is very close to the others in their "class."
- a vital part they feel in their life is that they kill their parents/those older than them in the other class, and can just "feel" when they come in contact with the "enemy class". While occasionally the parents feel the need to kill the children, it's generally those not directly related to them that they'll go after . Rarely will this need-to-kill bleed onto people not in their family, but it does happen, sometimes. they like their familial wars, and dragging other people in is just bonus
- they are generally extremely nervous around those they "like," and rarely can hold rational conversations with them. they do try, though. kind of. tend to be more suave when they're very young, and are drawn to older partners. while they are not exactly "pro-incest," it is not unheard of for some in the same classes to pair up for a short while, but generally only when they don't actually know the other is of their family.
- generally they try to be monogamous, but, due to the fact that they are so incredibly awkward around those they are attracted to, the other generally ends things and they have to find a new partner.
- many enjoy having children around - just not their own - and will collect/adopt children that they'll try to indoctrinate with their ideals. as these hatreds are not bred into them (poison in the blood), it may only kind of work, or not at all.
- very diverse in personality. some are smart, some not so much, some sweet, some mean. some would say that many are hotheaded, but that's mostly when people see the two classes interact.
- Currently there is no real "personality distinction" between Class A and Class B - each thinks the other are evil SOBs that deserve to die, and that everything is the other's fault.
Name
- all end in Byss, though they only extremely rarely introduce themselves with this name, always nervous that the person they're meeting is of a different class and will kill them if they know. they'll say it if it's not a "wrong" class name (for instance : if Ambria met someone named Barbara or Denise, she probably would never say she was a Byss, just in case)
- they can combine with other line names with little problem. it's almost as though Byss doesn't really exist, except, you know, at times. when it does
- it is a two-part name ([Something] Byss), but, if I haven't made it obvious enough already, the [Something] is so much more important than the Byss part. dorky nervous murderous bastards
- The first part can be anything, anything at all. Planet names (even fictional planet names) are preferred, but not necessary. The only thing necessary is that the first generation starts with A (Aldo and Ambria), the second with B (there are no B yet, so I have no real examples, but let's say "Bespin"), the third with a C. You get the picture.
Magic
- Sometimes places they go will allow them to have magic. This is fine. Any magic is open to them.
- However, their magic is somehow not able to kill their family members. Ever. Someone else, sure, maybe, but family - NOPE. can't happen. why? because MAGIC
- And by can't, I mean I want this to be the case. You, of course, have control, but it would make everything that much more interesting, cha?
Breeding and Foaling
- so, I accidentally deleted this part (oops) and i don't remember everything
- Your Byss can have as many kids as you want. They could have thirty. Just know that however many kids you let them have, that's how many people will be trying to kill your character. However, that's also how many people your char gets to try to kill, so that could be fun
- while it would make sense for the parents (especially if the mother is a Byss) to kill the foal while it is still young and weak, the family has adopted the idea that each foal gets a year without death. However, the Byss parent is not expected to be nice to them, or really take care of them in any way aside from necessary - they really just can't kill the get
- THIS IS EXCITING AND IMPORTANT THOUGH - if you have a Byss, you cannot receive another Byss until three generations have passed or your Byss is dead. It would be preferable if you don't put rules on the foals, though you are allowed, but if you "repossess" the char remember that you'll need to adopt it out to someone else - you aren't to play it UNLESS you kill their parent. I'll even be nice and say the foal can kill its parent that you currently play.
